In-Person Music Lessons

  • Spacious Rooms
  • Good Acoustics
  • For youth lessons, parents are welcome to attend.  A parent or chaperone needs to stay on site during the lesson - in the music room or hotel lounge.
  • Free WIFI
  • Tables/chairs
  • A youth student’s siblings or an adult student’s children are welcome to do quiet activities at the tables – drawing/coloring during lesson time.
  • Online Lesson option when needed.​
  • Filming lessons is not permitted. 
  • Audio recordings of many songs are available to help students learn how to play them on their instrument.

General Lesson Info

  • Take an ‘Intro Lesson’ &/or pay by the month to guarantee a time spot.
  • No refund for missed lessons.
  • Occasionally a make-up lesson may be possible if a different time spot is open the same week.​
  • Payments for Lessons & Camps are made out to North Star Theater Company.

Online Music Lessons

Q:  “When can we use the online music lesson option?”
A:  “The following are just a few examples:
• If you’re running late!
• If you need to be 2 places at the same time!
• If there’s inclement weather!
• If you or your child is feeling a little under the weather!
• If transportation options aren’t available for any reason!
• If you live too far away to take in-person lessons!
• If in-person lessons aren’t possible due to a Pandemic!
​• 30 minute weekly lessons are held year round
• Private &/or Family Duo Lessons
• Beginners Welcome!
• Currently available for USA residents
• Pay by the month to guarantee a lesson time
​• Online Music Lessons are scheduled just the same as In-person Lessons so that students who would like to utilize both options, can easily switch between the two at the Cambridge and North Branch, MN locations.

"What Do Students Need for Online Lessons?"
  • ​Smart Phone/iPhone or Tablet/iPad or laptop or desktop computer
  • A tripod with mount is helpful for positioning the phone/tablet camera/screen
  • High speed internet or cell phone data
  • app:  FaceTime  (a link can be sent to you in a text message if you don't have FaceTime)
  • For ages 5-8: A parent/adult needs to be present to help with instrument & finger positioning etc.

​After the Intro lesson you’ll need the following before weekly lessons begin:
• Good sounding playable instrument
• Clip-on Electronic Instrument Tuner
• Music Book
• Music Stand
How to Set up for Great Music Lesson Interaction:
Online Music Lessons

  1.  Tripod with mount for tablet or phone, Music Stand or desk/counter… where you can safely prop and adjust the angle of your device.
  2. Turn your camera on selfie mode and adjust your position so that you can see your instrument and your right & left hand.
  3. Check lighting (no window directly behind you or sun shining directly on you from the front as the picture will be washed out.)
  4. Place your music book on a music stand and have a clip handy if needed to hold it open.
  5. Tune your instrument before your lesson starts.
  6. Start warming up before your lesson begins.
  7. Put your lesson dates and times on your calendar with a reminder notification.

Mobile MN Music Lessons (Your Location!)

For residents who live within 15 miles of Cambridge or North Branch, MN USA
  • Mobile lessons are for homeschoolers, distance learners, senior citizens and families who want to experience the joys of making music at their own home!
  • As students progress, lessons can be followed by a family music jam! ​
  • On sunny days we can hold music lessons in your yard, under shade trees or a canopy!
  • To keep acoustic instruments healthy:  ​no smoking, perfume, pets or pet hair in rehearsal area.
  • For youth lessons, parents are welcome to attend. Note:  a parent or adult needs to be at home while the lessons are being held.  
  • Filming lessons is not permitted.  
  • Audio recordings of many songs are available to help students learn how to play them on their instrument.
  • Payments made out to North Star Theater Company​
